ST. LOUIS — Is Facebook down for you? Outages are spiking on the website DownDetector.com. Many users report being logged out without an option to log back in. The login issues apply to both the app and the website.
The outage was first reported at around 9:15 a.m. CST. Some users are able to login starting around 10:30 a.m. The sites and apps appear to be still down for many users.
Meta has not provided a timeline for when full services will resume. Twitter is working well but no tweet on the matter has been shared on their official account. No update is available yet on Meta.com.
Facebook communications worker Andy Stone shared this update on X, “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.”
The cause of the outage remains unconfirmed. Users report issues with resetting their passwords and using two-factor security to login.
People on the outage detection website say that their session expired and they can’t log back in. One person says, “‘An Unknown Error Has Occurred’ each time I try to log back in on the app.”
The outage has caused concern among businesses relying on Facebook for marketing, highlighting the platform’s significant role in global communication. Users have migrated to other social networks to voice frustrations and seek updates, with #FacebookDown trending.
One Downdetector user writes, “Messenger and Facebook logged me out a few minutes ago. I relogged successfully, but it logged me out after one second. Now I cannot log back in. When I reported the issue, there were only 40 reports, but now over 5000, so apparently Facebook has some issues now.”
Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads and Messenger are all run by the parent company, Meta. They all appear to be having the same issues.
