When police attempted to stop him, Steward fled on foot to a vehicle. Officers followed behind and one attempted to get the suspect out of the car. Rather, Steward started the vehicle and continued to drive away while the officer was still trying to apprehend him.

According to a release, multiple packages were retrieved from inside the suspect’s vehicle and are believed to be stolen.

Steward remains in custody. There is no current information about a bond. The investigation is ongoing.
