ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – One resident in St. Louis County is searching for help after going in circles with the Social Security Administration.
Karen White says the agency admitted to owing her around $2,000, but it never came through. She has now been pleading with the agency for over a year to clear the government jam.
“It’s working me over because I have no answers, and I still have my bills and everything to pay,” she said. “I’m trying to do it like I’m supposed to but every month, they’re taking something out of my check.”
White’s daughter, Keeyona Ferguson, is trying to help her mom navigate all of it.
“I’m trying to help her make ends meet cause she still has rent, she still has food, she still has other responsibilities,” Ferguson said.
“They said they would get everything back running to normal in the next two pay cycles…we still didn’t see a change,” White said. “They told us everything worked…but the money was sitting in a processing center. There’s no way to contact the payment center…it’s been two months. We’ve been patient but this is her only source of income.”
FOX 2 did not receive a response from the Social Security Administration when contacted. We then turned to U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt, who has helped constituents before. His office says they will look into the matter.
