ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A St. Louis woman has been charged in connection with a home burglary in Frontenac and two business burglaries in Ladue.
According to the Frontenac Police Department’s probable cause statement, the burglaries all occurred on the morning of February 25.
Police claim that around 6:30 a.m., a Frontenac officer on patrol noticed a broken window at the BP gas station near the corner of South Lindbergh Boulevard and Conway Road in Ladue. Officers responded to the gas station and discovered several lottery tickets had been stolen from the business.
Ladue police officers canvassed the area and discovered another broken window at the nearby Edward Jones office on Conway. Police went into the building and saw someone had rummaged through the office, but nothing of value was missing.
Approximately 15 minutes later, Frontenac police responded to a reported burglary at a home on Clayton Terrace, less than a third-of-a-mile away from the business burglaries.
Officers met with the homeowner, who said he saw a woman in his downstairs kitchen earlier that morning, wearing his son’s backpack. The homeowner confronted the burglar and a struggle ensued. The homeowner got the backpack, and the burglar ran off.
Additional officers arrived to help canvass the area and noticed a person matching the suspect’s description across the street at another home. The woman had attempted to break into that home, too, but was unsuccessful. Police apprehended the woman without incident.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Helena Geoppo (age not provided) with one count of first-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree burglary. She’ll remain confined until her next court hearing in March.
