Wentzville woman charged for stealing over $25K from St. Louis company

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A woman from Wentzville was charged last week for stealing over $25,000 while working at a company headquartered in St. Louis County.

According to the St. Louis County Police probable cause statement, Melanie C. Lindsey stole the money while working at Jay Henges Enterprises, a flooring contractor, between 2019 and 2023.

The company reported to police that its staff discovered Lindsey had forged multiple checks to pay debts of hers. Lindsey was an accounts payable clerk and used the company’s systems to modify invoices to issue checks to businesses and individuals of her choice.

Police found she had used the fraudulent payments to pay the creditors she owed money to.

The Circuit Court of St. Louis County charged Lindsey with one count of stealing $25,000 or more and one count of forgery. She is scheduled to appear in court for criminal setting on October 28 at 9 a.m.
