ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Parkway South High School student is facing weapons charges for allegedly carrying a gun in his backpack while on school property.
According to Manchester Police Chief Scott Will, the incident unfolded around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday during school dismissal.
Police claim a fight between two students began on a school bus and spilled onto the school parking lot. Teachers intervened in the fight and separated the students.
One of the students stayed on the parking lot after the fight, while the other student, identified as Edward Kingston, 18, ran off. Police claim they located Kingston a short time later and discovered a loaded handgun in his backpack. The gun had been unlawfully modified to be a fully automatic weapon.
School administrators at Parkway South High are now considering suspension or expulsion for the student involved. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Kingston with unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession or transport of an illegal weapon. Kingston remains jailed on a $100,000 bond.
