ST. LOUIS — Two more Catholic parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Louis are closing.

St. Francis of Assisi in Franklin County and St. Catherine of Alexandria in Ste. Genevieve County will both shut their doors. A Vatican court has rejected their appeals to remain open.

St. Clare in the city of St. Clair will absorb St. Francis. St. Joseph in Farmington will take over St. Catherine.

At least 50 parishes are set to merge or close as part of the “All Things New” plan. Already, three Catholic grade schools have closed. Seven other parishes still have appeals pending at the Vatican.
