Two men charged in July murder case in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – Two men are behind bars and now face felony charges in connection with a July murder case out of south St.. Louis.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office has charged Alfredo Canales-Ordonez, 27, and Brayan Rodriguez-Banegas, 20, in the shooting death of Denis Perez-Canales.

Perez-Canales was fatally shot on July 7 in the 4400 block of Grace Avenue in St. Louis’ Dutchtown neighborhood.

Investigators say that two others, a man and a woman both in their 20s, were also hurt and hospitalized with injuries from the same shooting.

Canalez-Ordonez was arrested on Sept. 11 and charged with hindering prosecution, tampering with a witness and animal abuse amid the investigation. Rodriguez-Banegas was arrested on Sept. 5 and charged with first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and three counts of armed criminal action amid the investigation.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Division is investigating the shooting.
