BELLEVILLE, Ill — Police are searching for a man armed with a machete after they say he intentionally rammed a vehicle into a home.
Two people were found dead inside a Belleville home after a vehicle crashed into the residence on the morning of August 11th. The crash occurred around 9:11 AM in the 100 block of South 8th Street.
Police quickly identified Matthew K. Thomas as a person of interest. Investigators believe Thomas intentionally drove the vehicle into the home, leading authorities to treat the case as a double homicide.
Thomas was last seen near the railroad tracks off South 29th Street in Belleville. He is believed to be armed with a machete.
Numerous officers from various local agencies are actively searching for Thomas in the area. The Belleville Police Department urges anyone with information to call 618-234-1212.
