MADISON COUNTY, Ill. – Authorities have arrested two men accused of shooting a teenage girl in Alton over the weekend.
Prosecutors have charged 19-year-olds Alvin Perry III and Raysean Colvin with attempted first-degree murder and other felonies amid the investigation.
The charges allege that Perry and Colvin were together when at least one of them shot a 13-year-old girl in the head. The victim was shot while she stood on a porch outside of a home on Highland Avenue.
According to the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office, preliminary evidence suggests the girl was not a targeted victim. She was rushed to the hospital after the shooting and is still being treated for injuries several days later.
“The victim in this case was truly an innocent victim of senseless violence,” said Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine. “A beautiful young girl is fighting for her life. We pray for the victim, her family and her loved ones.”

Haine has filed petitions seeking pretrial detention of the defendants, meaning they would be held at the Madison County Jail until trial.
Perry was previously charged with attempted armed robbery on Oct. 23, but released within days of the charge under Illinois’ SAFE-T Act.
