A preliminary investigation involving the Granite City Police Department and other agencies found that the actions of Cheung and Godfrey led to the child’s death. However, police have not disclosed the child’s cause of death.

Granite City officers responded to a report of an infant not conscious or breathing on June 29 in the 2100 block of Bryan Avenue. The infant was rushed to a hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Cheung and Godfrey are not in custody as of Friday afternoon, according to the Granite City Police Department. The agency has also not identified the victim by name, age or gender.

Additional details are limited at this time. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
