ST. LOUIS – A closed Shell gas station in Downtown St. Louis, troubled by crime throughout the years, has been torn down.

The former gas station is located in the 700 block of North Tucker Boulevard, just north of Washington Avenue.

A court ruling stripped the gas station of its permits, creating grounds for a complete shutdown. A settlement was reached last April between the Shell owners and the neighborhood association, officially closing the gas station for good in August.

According to court documents previously reviewed by FOX 2, there were more than 6,300 emergency calls to the gas station from1990 to 2021. Within four years, from 2019 to 2023, there were 21 reported shootings at the location.

Tucker Shell LLC owns the property and Tucker Shell Station Inc. was the operator, according to St. Louis property records.
