Trial set for suspect in deadly Illinois bowling alley mass shooting

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – Duke Webb, the man accused of killing three people at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford nearly four years ago, is heading to trial.

The jury trial is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2, in Courtroom A inside the Winnebago County Justice Center with Judge John Gibbons presiding.

Webb, 41, is accused of opening fire the evening of Dec. 26, 2020, inside the East State Street bowling alley, killing 73-year-old Dennis Steinhoff, 69-year-old Jerome Woodfork and 65-year-old Thomas Furseth.

Three teens and a 62-year-old man were wounded in the shooting.

A former Green Beret, Webb is charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder and attempted murder, along with gun offenses. He faces life in prison if convicted.
