Three men injured in overnight shooting on I-70

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A shooting on Interstate 70 in Earth City overnight leaves a stretch of the highway shut down for hours.

Police received the call for a shooting on I-70 a little after 12 a.m. early Friday morning. Police say the shooting happened on westbound I-70 in Earth City between Highway 141 and the Blanchette Bridge.

Police say three men were struck by gunfire and were transported to a nearby hospital, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The victims are all in their 20s and were traveling in separate vehicles at the time of the shooting.

Westbound I-70 in the area where the shooting happened was closed for nearly three hours. Authorities had the ramp to 70 westbound from Highway 141 blocked off as the investigation unfolded.

Fox 2’s Nissan Rogue Runner Brian Howe was on the scene of the shooting. A full-size van was stopped on the highway, and authorities had another vehicle on a wrecker.

There is currently no word from authorities of anybody in custody.
