ST. LOUIS – It’s one of the busiest travel days of the year, both across the country and in the St. Louis area.

Southwest is the largest carrier at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. There are a lot of early risers on the day before Thanksgiving getting on flights to their holiday destinations.

Projections from TSA estimate nearly 20,500 passengers will pass through security Wednesday at Lambert. Those numbers are very similar to Tuesday. TSA projects the busiest day of the Thanksgiving travel period at Lambert will be this Sunday.

More than 23,600 passengers are expected to pass through security on Sunday. We spoke earlier live on FOX 2 News at 4:30 a.m. with Lambert spokesperson Roger Lotz.

He says travelers should arrive at Lambert two hours before their flight. Lotz explained to give yourself plenty of time and bring your patience as well. Lotz added that at this point he isn’t hearing of any major weather delays around the country, which could pose problems on this busy travel day.

We will see what happens as the day unfolds.
