UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. – If you’re craving a specific standout Mexican-food dish to taco-bout, food writers recently praised one University City restaurant for serving the best tacos in Missouri.

A research team at LoveFood.com recently complied a list naming “the best taco in every state.” Their choices were based on reviews, awards, accolades and first-hand experiences of their food-writing team.

According to LoveFood.com, the best taco in Missouri is called “The Taos” and served at Taco Buddha in University City.

Located at 7405 Pershing Avenue, just a short trip away from the Delmar Loop, Taco Buddha has served the St. Louis region since 2017. The restaurant prides itself on fresh ingredients and encourages diners to think of tacos as a personalized experience.

When’s the earliest we’ve seen frost in St. Louis?

Taco Buddha draws upon many national and international influences with its menu selections. “The Toas,” a style that originated in New Mexico, features a soft yet crispy shell with a unique blend of vegetables and other toppings.

LoveFood.com offers the following review of “The Taos” and Taco Buddha:

“The tacos dished up at Taco Buddha taste as vibrant, zingy, and delightful as they look. The menu features a selection of Tex-Mex and Cali-Mex classics (plus twists like Nashville hot chicken), and there’s a different special every month. The Taos bursts with green chili–marinated pork, crunchy cabbage, avocado, citrus-pickled red onion, Cotija cheese, and cilantro. There’s a lovely outdoor patio too, perfect for dining on summer nights.”

Taco Buddha also has a Kirkwood location at 11111 Manchester Road.
