ST. LOUIS – A third man was charged in connection with a fatal shooting in the Holly Hills neighborhood last month, in which the victim was left to die on the sidewalk.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statements, the murder occurred on January 18 in the 5200 block of South Grand Boulevard near Walsh Street.
Police found the victim, Rion Robinson, the following morning next to a laundromat. Robinson, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers didn’t see any obvious signs of trauma. However, the medical examiner determined Robinson had been shot in the torso and thigh.
Homicide detectives believe Robinson was alive for approximately 13 hours before dying from his wounds.
Police claim Robinson’s killing was a setup between three men.
On January 18, Anthony Hill entered a business at that location and inquired about Robinson’s whereabouts. The co-defendant, Calvin Anderson, operates said business.
Later that day, Anderson allegedly called Hill to tell him the victim was at his business. Hill and another person, identified as Tyrell Henley, returned to the business and confronted Robinson.
Prosecutors and police claim surveillance video shows Hill and Henley assault Robinson outside a vacant storefront. Meanwhile, Anderson is filming the incident on a cellphone. Hill eventually takes out a handgun and shoots the victim several times.
Anderson can be observed on surveillance video picking up and removing the bullet casings from the crime scene. Hill and Henley left the area. Over the next few hours, Anderson is seen walking outside his business and looking at the victim’s body. At no point did Anderson attempt to aid the victim or call for help.
Previously, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Hill, 47, with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Anderson, 48, was charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, and third-degree assault. Both men remain jailed without bond.
On February 14, the circuit attorney’s office charged Henley with second-degree murder, third-degree assault, armed criminal action, and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. Henley will remain jailed until his trial.
