ST. LOUIS – A recent study says that Missouri is one of the highest-ranked states with road rage incidents among drivers in the United States.
According to Forbes Advisor, Missouri was ranked No. 2, behind only California, as the state with the most confrontational drivers in the country.
The results came after Forbes Advisor surveyed a total of 10,000 licensed drivers, 200 in each state, and compared the results across nine metrics.
Missouri ranked in the top 10 among seven of the nine metrics used in the study:
Highest percentage of drivers who have been yelled at, insulted or threatened by another driver (33.5%)
Second-highest percentage of drivers who say they have been purposely cut off (48%)
Third-highest percentage of drivers who say they have been forced off the road (13.5%)
Third-highest percentage of drivers who say they been honked at due to frustration (60.5%)
Fifth-highest percentage of drivers who were on the receiving end of offensive gestures (45.5%)
Sixth-highest percentage of drivers who say they’ve been blocked from switching lanes or merging (37%)
Ninth-highest percentage of drivers who have been tailgated (59.5%)
Within the study, Missouri received a score of 99.44 out of 100 from the report, behind California’s score of 100 out of 100.
According to the Zebra, 92% of people have witnessed at least one incident of road rage, and 89% say they have been on the receiving end of it.
In 2023, Missouri was ranked 18th in the study for most confrontational drivers.
