Student from St. Louis killed in Indiana crash

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A 24-year-old Indiana State University student from St. Louis was killed in a fatal crash on Tuesday.

According to the Terre Haute Police Department, the incident occurred along Erie Canal Road between Vorhees Street and Hulman Street at approximately 6 p.m.

Police said investigators determined the victim’s vehicle struck another vehicle before veering off the roadway and striking a large pole.

The victim, Zinyetta Z. Morgan, of St. Louis Missouri, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police said Morgan was a current student at ISU.

“The Terre Haute Police Department extends its sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and Indiana State University community during this difficult time,” the post reads.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to an area hospital for treatment of what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash caused the closure of a portion of Erie Canal Road for two hours as police reconstruction crews investigated the incident.

Police said the incident remains under active investigation and further information could be released in the future.
