ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo – A St. Louis woman has been charged with writing two fake checks totaling around $21,000 as back payment for rent on a townhome in Wildwood. Alice Mosblech faces two counts of forgery, according to the St. Louis County Police Department.

Mosblech and her husband rented a home from the victim and his mother. Having trouble keeping up with the rent, Mosblech agreed to make a full payment of $21,500 in back rent.

The victim requested that Mosblech provide two checks, each made payable to the two LLCs owned by the victim and his mother. Mosblech provided the checks, but when the victim and his mother attempted to cash them, they discovered the checks were forgeries.

An investigation by the police revealed that both checks apparently came from the same account but had the same check number. The account holder’s address contained improper capitalization and punctuation and included the word “Null.”

The police attempted to arrange an interview with Mosblech, but her attorney informed them that she did not wish to meet with the police regarding the checks.
