ST. LOUIS – The Peace Economy Project, a St. Louis social justice organization, held a vigil Saturday to raise attention to gun violence.

Organizers say the vigil was important to not only remember victims but also talk about the dangers of gun violence nationally and locally. The event was held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Deaconess Foundation office in St. Louis’ Grand Center neighborhood.

Attendees gave speeches, watched live performances, and took part in discussions aimed at educating people about some of the root causes of gun violence.

The event also offered opportunities for attendees to engage with local organizations, sign petitions, and learn about advocacy efforts to strengthen gun safety legislation and community support systems.
