ST. LOUIS – A group of veterans from St. Louis and southeast Missouri are taking part in a special Honor Flight Saturday morning.

They’re making a one-day trip to Washington D.C. where they’ll visit the war memorials that stand as a tribute to their service3 and sacrifice.

Veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam War are among those making this meaningful journey.

“Lot of comradery here between all branches of service. That’s what it’s all about,” said Ronald Burns, a Navy Veteran.

“I’m very excited to make this trip. I’ve been waiting for a while to do it. Feel honored to do it,” said Robert Trower, a Vietnam Veteran.

Twenty-six veterans and their guardians departed from Lambert Saturday morning. For some of them, this is their first trip or flight in over 30 years.

They’ll return to St. Louis Sunday night.
