WILDWOOD, Mo. – A St. Louis teen is fulfilling his wish to go on an Alaskan adventure.
14-year-old Charlie Lavarge is like most teens: he enjoys the outdoors, fishing, and wild animals. He’s dreamed of visiting Alaska and seeing the scenic landscapes in person.
He also has rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of childhood cancer.
Charlie was one of many who took a trip to Hidden Valley Ski Resort Monday and the teen was stunned by the trip of a lifetime.

Make-A-Wish Missouri and Kansas partnered with Spectrum and Hidden Valley Ski Resort, surprising Charlie and his family with a trip to Alaska.
His grantor, Chad Baker, said he had the same cancer as Charlie when he was a kid.
“It was very comforting,” Charlie said. “It helped me to understand I’m not the only one who’s had this. He had it in a much more different time than me, where there was only three doctors in the country that could handle this…He got through it and is living a great life, so I can do the same.”
In a few months, Charlie and his family will be enjoying the snow in Alaska. But for now, they’re taking it in at Hidden Valley.
