ST. LOUIS — Police are working with the US Marshals to apprehend a wanted suspect. They have surrounded a home on the 2300 block of Albion Place and the situation has escalated into a standoff. Authorities have labeled this as an active, ongoing situation and are urging the public to avoid the area.

The SWAT team has been called in to help handle the situation. The police activity has closed a portion of Jefferson Avenue, from Lafayette to Park, to both pedestrians and vehicles.

At least one school in the area is now in a “modified lockdown.” Lafayette Preparatory Academy tells parents that they are limiting access to their buildings until the situation is over. They cannot hear or see police from the school’s location.

This is a developing story. More details will be posted here as they come into the FOX 2 Newsroom.
