ST. LOUIS – St. Louis officials are discussing a new plan that could help you save more on your phone bill.

City officials are planning to set up free, public Wi-Fi in nine city parks and along a stretch of Martin Luther King Drive.

They say it’s to reach out to thousands of city households lacking broadband internet. The $1.4 million project is being paid for with federal pandemic aid.

The city says the program should be set up by late 2024 or early 2025 and run through September 2026.

They’ll monitor how much the new Wi-Fi is used and how much it costs. If the results are good, the program will be renewed and expanded.
