ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum is asking the public for names of local Holocaust survivors who settled in St. Louis after the war
The museum said it has so far collected over 900 names of St. Louis area survivors, which have been projected in a virtual display. The newly collected names will be added to the display and unveiled at a private program for survivors and descendants in 2025.
According to the museum, a survivor is defined as a Jewish person who experienced persecution by the Nazis and their collaborators between 1933 and 1945.
“Holocaust survivors lived through a diverse set of experiences—some survived camps and/or ghettos, while others lived out the war in hiding,” the museum said in a news release. “Still more escaped Europe in the early years of the Nazi regime. Each of these experiences—and everyone in between—is valid and deserving of recognition.”
