ST. LOUIS – The deadline has come and gone. Now, the City of St. Louis says it will take legal action against the owners of the abandoned Railway Exchange Building in Downtown St. Louis.

Formerly the home of Famous Barr, the old building has seen everything but a makeover recently. Break-ins, squatting, fires and vandalism have plagued the site in recent years.

But change may soon be coming. The City intends to file a petition in court for eminent domain.

People who live near the Railway Exchange building hope a local buyer will step up and save the historic structure.
