St. Louis man ordered to repay $100K after misusing company credit card

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis was man was ordered to repay nearly $100,000 and sentenced to federal prison after misusing a company credit card on personal expenses.

A judge sentenced Stephen Patrick Higgins, 32, to one year and one day behind bars on Thursday. He was also ordered to repay $100,485 to his former employer and an insurance company.

Investigators say Higgins was formerly a sales engineer at a St. Louis County company. While employed, he misused his company credit card for personal purposes on multiple occasions. Investigators did not disclose what kind of personal purchases Higgins made on the company credit card.

Higgins pleaded guilty in July to one count of wire fraud. The U.S. Secret Service and the Chesterfield Police Department investigated the case.
