ST. LOUIS – A man driving a reportedly stolen car was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after leading St. Louis police on a brief chase in a north city neighborhood.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, detectives with the city’s Anti-Crime Task Force were stationed in the Penrose neighborhood when they saw an Infiniti Q50 with a stolen license plate driving recklessly.
Police said the driver, Mark A. Hill, 27, refused to pull over for a traffic stop and a police helicopter was called in to assist the task force in tailing the stolen vehicle. Eventually, Hill ditched the Q50, took off on foot, and was arrested a short time later.

Police said they searched the vehicle and discovered a Glock handgun with a sear switch on it, which would allow the gun to function as a fully automatic weapon. In addition, detectives found a large quantity of suspected fentanyl and nearly $50,000 in cash in the car.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Hill with second-degree trafficking drugs, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of an illegal weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful use of a weapon. Hill remains jailed without bond.
