HARRODSBURG, Ky. (FOX 56) — A K-9 helped Kentucky authorities find a “substantial” amount of methamphetamine, leading to a St. Louis man’s arrest.
Early Tuesday morning, Harrodsburg, Kentucky police pulled over a vehicle for traffic violations after it was seen almost striking a guard rail and swerving across the fog line twice, according to an arrest citation.
Harrodsburg police said the driver, Joshua Littrell, did not agree to have the vehicle searched, leading to police K-9 Tyra sniffing for narcotics.
Tyra gave the police a positive alert on the driver’s door, according to the citation, leading to Litttrell’s vehicle being searched. After searching the vehicle, the police said they found a used syringe, around 23 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and a spoon with suspected meth still on it.

The police also said they found a loaded Taurus revolver handgun, which Littrell initially denied was his. After being placed under arrest, Littrell admitted the gun was used for his protection.
After searching his past criminal history, dispatch said they found he had two prior felony convictions on possession-related charges.
Littrell was arrested at 2:05 a.m. and charged with:
Careless driving
First-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
Buying/possessing drug paraphernalia
Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
He was booked into the Boyle County Detention Center and court records show he is being held on a $10,000 bond.
