ST. LOUIS – A heated argument at a St. Louis convenience store last weekend spiraled into a high-speed car chase, gunfire, and a violent crash. The suspect in the case is now behind bars.
Prosecutors have charged Michael Nunley Jr., 27, with six felonies in the investigation, including three counts of armed criminal action, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and first-degree assault.
Police said the male victim crashed in the 1200 block of Euclid Avenue in St. Louis’ Fountain Park neighborhood after a confrontation with Nunley at a nearby convenience store.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, Nunley walked into an undisclosed convenience store and accused the victim of breaking into his vehicle. The two began to argue and Nunley pulled out a gun.
A short time later, the victim left the convenience store and damaged Nunley’s car with a brick, per court documents. The victim then left the convenience store in his vehicle and Nunley proceeded to chase him.
Court documents allege that Nunley fired shots from his car at the victim’s vehicle while both were driving. At some point, Nunley hit the back of the victim’s vehicle, which caused him to strike another car.
Nunley reportedly fired more shots at the victim after the crash. He was arrested Tuesday and jailed without bond, according to Missouri court records. Nunley has a detention hearing scheduled for July 16.
