St. Louis area back-to-school events to benefit kids

ST. LOUIS — St. Charles is hosting a special back-to-school supply drive today at the St. Charles Riverwalk Market and the St. Charles Flea and Artisan Market. Guests who donate supplies or make a purchase at either market will be entered into a prize drawing. Prizes include gift baskets and a brand-new laptop.

Organizers are asking for donations of Ziploc bags, hand sanitizer, pre-sharpened pencils, dry-erase markers, and backpacks. The supply drive runs from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Annie Malone Children and Family Services is also holding its third annual Family Fest today at its facility on 5355 Page Boulevard in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood. Attendees can receive free school supplies, vaccines, health screenings, household items, hair care, and utility assistance. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
