ST. CHARLES, Mo. – A wine and spirits warehouse located in St. Charles, Missouri, is relocating to the outskirts of Kansas City, asking many of its employees to move or lose their jobs.
Southern Glazers Wine and Spirits of Missouri announced Monday of the relocation of its St. Charles warehouse located off Mueller Road to Raymore, Missouri. The warehouse has provided jobs to more than 90 employees.
According to a letter from Southern Glazer’s senior director, Teddra J. Porteos, provided notice of the dislocation and intends to offer all employees located at the warehouse employment at the new facility in Raymore.
Despite this, the letter stated that Southern Glazer’s understands the move may not be practical for all employees, and those who are unable to transfer will be laid off from work effective November 1, 2024. The letter stated that those layoffs would be permanent.
According to the letter, in accordance with the WARN Act, a total of 94 employees will be asked to either move or lose their jobs. This includes over 60 union warehouse workers.
