St. Charles City vote effectively bans large-scale data centers

The St. Charles City Council approved Bill 14085 on Tuesday night.

The bill was created to help the city differentiate between warehouses and large-scale data centers. Data centers will not be included as a permitted use in any of the city’s zoning districts, effectively prohibiting large-scale data centers in St. Charles City.
