‘Southern Living’ names MO town as one of the best, affordable places to live

FULTON, Mo. – According to Southern Living magazine, one of the best and most affordable small towns in the United States is located right here in Missouri.

In a list of 15 small towns across America, Fulton came in at number eight. The magazine highlights the vibrant community with two colleges, national museums, festivals, and a social nightlife scene.

Fulton is located around 30 minutes southeast of Columbia. There are nearly 13,000 residents in the town, giving it the feel of a small town while also bustling at times.

For those who are interested in history and antiques, Fulton is the place to be. Within the town seated in Callaway County, locals can find America’s National Churchill Museum, Auto World Museum, Smockingbird’s Unqiue Gifts, Rock Garden Antique Barn, and Serenity Wine Valley, along with places to dine and visit nearby.

According to PayScale, Fulton’s cost of living is 16% below the national average. The average home price is just below $295,000 and the median rent is right under $900.
