MURPHYSBORO, Ill. – Southern Illinois Congressman Mike Bost announced an endorsement Tuesday from former U.S. President Donald Trump in his run for reelection.
Bost (R-Murphysboro) has served as a U.S. Representative for Illinois’s 12th congressional district since 2015.
Bost is seeking reelection against challenger Darren Bailey, who campaigned for governor during the 2022 election cycle.
“As Chairman of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Mike is doing an incredible job providing our brave and patriotic veterans with the care they deserve,” said Trump via a news release. “He is working hard to secure the border, champion American agriculture, strengthen the military, grow the economy, and protect and defend our under siege Second Amendment. Mike Bost has my complete and total endorsement!”
“It is a tremendous honor to have President Trump’s full support and total endorsement of my campaign,” said Bost via the same news release.
In his current role, Bost has served on committees for agriculture, transportation and veterans’ affairs, supporting legislation in tax reform, health care and farming.
Bost previously served as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1995 to 2015, representing the 115th district.
