ST. PETERS, Mo. – The St. Louis Shakespeare Festival continues its summer tour of “The Tempest” Tuesday evening in St. Peters.

The festival has performed at 18 different parks across Missouri and Illinois this summer. Tuesday’s performance at Lakeside Park will mark the fifth-to-last show.

Temperatures are anticipated to fall back into the lower 70s Tuesday evening and with little humidity, another comfortable airmass is expected.

This event is a free, outdoor play starting at 6:30 p.m. and lasting roughly through 8 p.m. Tom Ridgely, the artistic director behind the show, says the play is designed for anyone of all ages, those who are familiar with Shakespeare, and those who are not.

“There have been versions of travelling Shakespeare productions before and we used to do one that went around to schools, but because of COVID, we couldn’t do that anymore. We do Shakespeare in the Park in Forest Park every year and we thought, ‘We’re pretty good at doing outdoor Shakespeare, if we can do one park, why not 24?'” he said. ” It just felt like the right thing in the moment and it really stuck. It’s early, it’s short, it’s in your backyard—people really take into it.”
