ST. LOUIS – A previously convicted sex offender is facing new charges for sex crimes involving children.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the crimes occurred on Oct. 15, 2023, in the 4600 block of South Grand Boulevard, located in the Dutchtown neighborhood.
Police claim the two victims, ages 7 and 8, said Jeffrey D. Jones, 56, touched their genitals and tried to get them to perform a sex act on them or vice versa.
Police arranged for the victims to be interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center. Authorities gleaned enough credible information from the interviews to warrant an arrest.

Jones was taken into custody on March 12. Police claim he confessed to performing a sex act on one of the children multiple times, touching the genitals of both children, and performing a sex act on himself in front of a child.
Jones was previously convicted of first-degree statutory rape in January 2000 in the City of St. Louis.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Jones with two counts of statutory sodomy – person less than 12, sexual misconduct involving a child under 15, and two counts of first-degree child molestation.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
