CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – “Building safety is a topic we don’t want to have to talk about, but unfortunately we do,” Barry Chelist, global account manager with TDM, said.

But that’s what brought Chelist to Chesterfield on Tuesday. He helped lead a school safety showcase promoting Quiklert, an all-in-one security and communications platform. Chelist says Quicklert is designed to help schools manage the unique safety and security challenges they face today.

“Whether it be an active shooter, whether it may be a fire, whether it’s a student vaping in a bathroom, it could be a CO2 leak in a classroom,” Chelist said.

Chelist says Quicklert not only helps detect threats, but it also contacts 911, sends mass alerts and broadcasts to users on any device or screen.

“It will put a building in lockdown, and it will safely direct children, teachers and other adults in that building to safety. We’re looking forward to implementing this system,” he said.

Thad Falkner is Head of School at Wilson School in Clayton, where Quicklert will be installed in the next few weeks.

“We were looking for a system that was truly integrated. We wanted hardware and software that could function together,” he said. “We wanted to make sure the communication throughout the building is clear from both an audio and visual standpoint if possible.”

Falkner says it was important to have the technology to help prevent the most dangerous situations, but it also needed to make regular, daily use at the Wilson School more cohesive.

“It feels as we implement it and use it that we can customize it in ways that will be helpful only to us,” he said.
