ST. LOUIS – After record-breaking spring football crowds last year, St. Louis is preparing to host the inaugural United Football League Championship.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Sports Business Journal report that the Dome at America’s Center will host the 2024 UFL Championship on Sunday, June 16. The league has not yet announced it, but FOX 2 is working to confirm these reports.

The newly-formed UFL consists of eight teams merged from the XFL and USFL spring football leagues, including the St. Louis Battlehawks.

While an XFL squad last season, the Battlehawks shattered an XFL and professional spring football league attendance record by packing more than 38,000 fans in their home opener. The team went 7-3 and helped more than a dozen players earn NFL tryouts.

The Battlehawks are hosting a town hall event at Ballpark Village on Thursday, locally known as 314 Day in St. Louis. The event is free to the public and begins around 5:30 p.m.

This is a developing story. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
