ST. LOUIS – Tim Parker, a fan favorite who scored the first goal in the history of St. Louis CITY SC, is reportedly on the move.

CITY SC is finalizing a trade to send Parker to the New England Revolution for Henry Kessler in a swap of center-backs, according to a report from MLS Insider Tom Bogert.

Parker appeared to confirm the move on social media. “STL, it was fun,” Parker shared Friday afternoon on social media platform X. CITY SC has not yet confirmed the move as of 3:30 p.m.

Parker served as vice captain in two seasons with St. Louis, dressing for 50 MLS regular season games. He scored four goals in his first season, including the first in CITY SC history. He also scored CITY’s first goal of the 2024 calendar year in the CONCACAF Champions Cup tournament.

The reported trade comes during a time of transition for St. Louis. After securing a playoff spot in their inaugural season, which started with a historic five-game winning streak, CITY sits several wins outside the playoff hunt and has the second-fewest points (23) in the Western Conference. Unable to sustain much momentum in year two, St. Louis has fired head coach Bradley Carnell and also parted ways Sam Adeniran and Aziel Jackson via trade.

The trade would give St. Louis a younger center-back in Kessler, 26 years old as opposed to Parker at 31. New England is also expected to receive allocation money in the deal, according to Bogert.

St. Louis will host FC Juárez from the Liga MX in a Leagues Cup match at home this Sunday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. CT. Meanwhile, CITY SC is scheduled to return to MLS regular season action on Saturday, Aug. 24 against the Portland Timbers.
