JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities have confirmed that human remains discovered late last month in Missouri are those of Emily Strite, a mother who was first reported missing in April. Charlyn McClain, Strite’s mother, joins NewsNation’s “Banfield” exclusively to discuss the latest details in the case. McClain suspects Strite’s ex-partner, Steve Fults, was involved in hurting her daughter.

The sheriff’s office says her skeletal remains were found on Sept. 28 in a wooded area near the 4100 block of Frissell Road. A property owner discovered the remains and reported the incident to authorities. An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death.

Several search teams have been looking for Strite this year. Charlyn McClain had not heard from her daughter since early May, missing several significant dates, including Mother’s Day, which was unusual.

McLean believes the man with whom her daughter had a tumultuous relationship, may be involved in Emily’s disappearance and death. She claims he has been tormenting her with text messages about Emily’s whereabouts over the past six months. She has shared the text messages with the police, who are following up on the information.

The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time. Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 636-797-5515.
