Record temperatures welcomed by St. Louisans

ST. LOUIS – Monday’s record-setting temperatures across the region brought just about everyone outside.

At Creve Coeur Lake, it was fishermen and rowers. At Forest Park, it was golfers, and it was the perfect weather for the start of the high school soccer season.

“It’s nice to have some nice weather at the start of the season,” Bree Birdsong, Althoff Catholic High School soccer player, said.

It’s a stark contrast to last year’s much colder Feb. 26.

“Last year, it was snowing on my birthday,” Phoenix Rush said. “It’s a lot nicer to have it be like this on my birthday. I like it, but I know it’s not going to be here for long.”

The nice weather is expected to be here for at least one more day.

“It’s too beautiful to be inside; get some fresh air,” Cris Derington said. “I can’t believe I’m in sandals in February.”

80 F was a record-setting high for St. Louis, breaking the previous record high of 78 F set in 1996.

While we may have another chance for a record-setting high on Tuesday, locals know all too well that this weather won’t be around for long as we’re set for a cold snap on Wednesday.

“You never know what you’re going to get (in) St. Louis, Missouri,” Michael Rush said.
