ST. LOUIS – Thomas Moore is a Marine veteran who followed in the footsteps of many of his family members in St. Louis who have served as first responders.

His brother retired from the St. Louis City Police Department, his nephews serve as firefighters, and his dad was a firefighter, as well as numerous uncles and cousins. Tom has received numerous awards over his decades of service. He spends his on-duty time at Firehouse #1 as an instructor, an expert in knot tying, repelling, and so many other skills.

During his off-duty time, he is raising money for the St. Louis Firefighter Memorial Foundation to support fallen firefighters. By purchasing a brick that will surround a statue that Liberty Art Works, Inc. is constructing, St. Louis residents can donate to the foundation.

A family member nominated Tom and told FOX 2:

Tom has been a firefighter for 35 years and is currently assigned to Rescue Squad One. He is also a proud veteran who has served his country in the Marines and Navy. He is an instructor for the fire department and teaches both firemen and policemen repelling and knot tying, amongst other duties. He assists the police department on all search warrants to assist if medical attention is needed. He’s a member of the fire department’s honor guard and carries the American flag at all activities. Tom donates countless hours to the fire department, MDA, and feeding the homeless, just to name a few. Tom is deserving of this and would be honored.

Thomas Moore receives $500 from Brown & Brown Law Firm and FOX 2’s Proud to Serve Award. If you would like to nominate a first responder, military member, or veteran, click here.
