Prosecutors consider charges in Collinsville shooting

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – One person is in custody following a shooting Monday morning in Collinsville.

According to Lt. Mark Kuechle, a Collinsville Police Department spokesman, the shooting happened just before 8:30 a.m. at a home in the 500 block of Western Avenue.

Officers arrived and found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. They took a male suspect into custody. Police did not disclose the ages and identities of either person.

Collinsville Fire Department EMS transported the victim to the hospital. Their injury was not life-threatening.

Meanwhile, the suspected shooter remains in police custody as the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office considers charges.

Investigators believe the shooting was domestic in nature.
