ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man will appear in court Tuesday for a detention hearing on sodomy and domestic assault charges.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the crimes occurred in the summer and winter of 2023 at a home in the Gravois Park neighborhood.

Police claim the victim came to them in February 2024 and reported being in an abusive relationship with Roderick T. Harvey III.

In July 2023, Harvey accused the victim of having sex with others, which led to an argument. During the argument, Harvey allegedly choked the victim, held her down, and forced himself on her.

On Dec. 23, 2023, Harvey and the victim were again arguing about infidelity. At one point, Harvey took a hammer and smashed the victim’s car and the walls of his home. He then choked her and again forced himself on her.

Harvey has prior convictions for first-degree sexual misconduct and sexual misconduct involving a child under the age of 15.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Harvey with two counts of first-degree sodomy, two counts of second-degree domestic assault, and first-degree property damage. He was jailed without bond until his trial.
