ST. LOUIS – Monday is President’s Day and one group is celebrating with an annual event.
The ‘Cornelia Greene Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution’ will gather again at Lafayette Park. This is the 60th anniversary of their wreath-laying at the historic George Washington bronze statue, erected in 1869.
That was ten years before President’s Day would become a federal holiday. It’s one of only six bronze castings of the original marble statue. The ceremony is at 10:00 a.m. Monday.
