ST. LOUIS – A major off-ramp from the Poplar Street Bridge is reopened after a big rig rolled over, blocking the ramp for hours overnight Wednesday morning.

The accident unfolded on the off ramp from the Poplar Street Bridge on to Interstate 55 and Interstate 44. Fortunately, no injuries are being reported from the incident.

Fox 2’s Nissan Rogue Runner Brian Howe captured video of the scene overnight.
The semi rolled over onto its side just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The incident happened as the big rig was taking the off ramp from the Poplar Street Bridge onto I-55 and I-44. The driver of the truck was examined by EMS crews at the scene but was not transported to the hospital.

MODOT officials say that they believe the trailer was carrying cylinders of container board, which is corrugated or solid cardboard used for making containers.

There is no word from investigators on what officially caused the driver’s semi to roll over. There does not appear to be any damage to the roadway, and the ramp has since reopened to traffic without any restrictions.
