Police: Shots fired in Burger King parking lot in Granite City

GRANITE CITY, Ill. – A suspect fired shots Tuesday evening in the parking lot of a Burger King in Granite City, a situation that apparently stemmed from road rage.

The Granite City Police Department says it responded to a shots fired call around 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Burger King restaurant at 3406 Nameoki Road.

Investigators say a suspect pursued a victim into the Burger King parking lot and fired at least one gunshot at the victim’s vehicle. Witnesses advised police that this appeared to be a case of road rage.


Traffic stalled westbound on I-70 near St. Charles after deadly crash

No one was struck by gunfire, and no injuries were reported amid the investigation, according to Granite City police. The suspect reportedly drove away from the scene after firing shots.

Granite City police described the situation as an “isolated incident” and says there is “no immediate danger of reoccurrence.”
