PINE LAWN, Mo. – Two officers with the North County Police Cooperative were injured Monday evening while working a detail at a meeting of the Pine Lawn Board of Aldermen.
According to Cpl. Benjamin Santoyo, an NCPC spokesman, the injured officers have 35 years and 22 years of law enforcement experience, respectively.
Police said Daniel Metts, 36, attempted to rush the board members and attack them. One of the officers tried to stop Metts but suffered injuries to his hip and ribs.
Metts managed to punch several aldermen before the second officer intervened and deployed his department-issued stun gun, police said. However, Metts resisted the officer’s efforts and injured that officer’s knee.
Metts was eventually subdued and taken into custody.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Metts with first-degree assault – special victim, third-degree assault – special victim, third-degree assault, fourth-degree assault – special victim, and resisting arrest. Metts remains in custody on a $150,000 cash-only bond.
